Tech giants making changes aimed towards sustainability


Thousands of walkouts and rallies worldwide regarding climate change have resulted in several tech giants, such as Google and Amazon, supporting the cause and vowing to make efforts to minimize their carbon footprints. Jeff Bezos of Amazon stated that his company would completely reduce or offset it’s carbon dioxide emissions by 2040. this pledge included a $100,000,000 reforestation program and the purchase of 100,000 electric delivery vans. “Google’s CEO (Sundar Pichai) said his company made “the biggest purchase of renewable energy in history” with 18 energy deals across the US, Chile and Europe that boost the megawatts in Google’s worldwide wind and solar portfolio by more than 40%.”
